Speaking of Sailfish?

Welcome to the course blog for CSC 341 (Principles of Programming Languages) at Centre College!

First, you may ask, what do sailfish have to do with programming?  Well, because of my irrational penchant for amusing animal metaphors, the course syllabus compares technology to the Indo-Pacific Sailfish (Istiophorus platypterus) in its ability to move quickly.  Thus, the popular programming languages of today will likely not be the languages of tomorrow.

Speaking of programming language popularity, here are two sites that attempt to track it:

What programming languages will rise to the top of this list in the future?  I couldn't say, but I think it's pretty safe to assume that it's not LOLCODE!  For more esoteric languages (and some normal ones as well), check out the marvelous site http://99-bottles-of-beer.net/.  If you prefer to be more traditional, there are also a lot of weird ways to say "Hello World!"

Finally, I don't know if I'd agree that this article truly finds THE top 10 truly bizarre languages, but it's certainly an amusing list.
